PROXY is the story of a young woman who is grappling with the idea of motherhood when the Intended Parents of the child she’s carrying decide not to carry out the surrogacy. The deeply personal short film explores the themes of parenting, personal responsibility, and infertility as Devon struggles to find her place in the world — and make the most difficult decision of her life.
The film was written by Brian Leahy of Something Wilde Films, produced by Lauren Hines Gill of Generative Films and directed by Kaz PS.
PROXY premiered at Academy-qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival in Los Angeles in August 2022 and was picked up for international distribution by HBO Eastern Europe in 2024.
